VIB and Ghent University have transferred their entire patent portfolio and proprietary know-how related to TopAct™ exclusively to ActoGeniX, which gave the company immediately a dominant IP position in the field of oral delivery of polypeptides via food grade bacteria.
Meanwhile, ActoGeniX has even further expanded its dominant position by filing additional patent applications at the level of medical products, disease indications, genetic engineering, manufacturing and formulation. This patent strategy results in a multiple patent coverage of each ActoBiotics™ developed by ActoGeniX. Today, the company holds a large patent estate encompassing 90 granted patents and 64 pending patent applications. Importantly, broad patent claims have already been granted in major territories like the United States, Europe and Japan. This puts ActoGeniX in a unique position to successfully exploit the commercial potential of this promising new class of biopharmaceutical products.
